MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Estel Howard Schram, 76, of Marquette Heights, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home.

He was born June 13, 1940 in Benton to Estel Willie and Mary C. (Sandusky) Schram.  His parents preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Schram and Ralph Schram.

Surviving are his significant other, Madeline Snider of Marquette Heights and her children, Jeff (Lorre) Snider of Delavan and Keri (Jim) Killion of Pekin; one sister, Juanita Smith of Peoria; three nephews, Mike (Jean) Smith of Crystal Lake, Brian Schram of Benton, and Joe Schram of Centralia; and one niece, Dr. Susan (Jarret Kinder) Williams of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He had served in the United States Marine Corps.

Estel worked at Komatsu in Peoria for over 40 years, retiring in 2006 as a design engineer.

An avid fisherman, Estel was a champion Bullseye Shooter that held a Distinguished Badge and was a Master shooter.  He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsmen’s Club, Illinois State Rifle Association, and the National Rifle Association.

His visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.
