MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Harry Lee Pryor, 78, of East Peoria, passed away at 7:58 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his residence.  He was formerly of Marquette Heights.

Born June 24, 1938 in Eldred to Ernest M. and Elsie E. (Morain) Pryor, he married Elizabeth E. Cox on December 1, 1956 in Wrights.  She preceded him in death on July 27, 2008 in East Peoria.   He also was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce and one brother, George.

Surviving are four daughters, Belinda L. (Stan) Marion of East Peoria, Susan L. (Troy) Short of Colorado, Tonya L. (Bob) Marion of East Peoria and Jodi D. (Tim) Gordon of Pekin; one son, Steven D. Pryor of Joliet; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Goode of Jerseyville; and one brother, James R. (Carol) Pryor of Gridley.

Harry attended Greater Pekin First United Pentecostal Church in North Pekin.

He had served in the United States Air Force serving from September 16, 1958 to December 1, 1960.  He also was a Sheriff’s Deputy for Dade County, Florida in the early 1960’s.

He worked as a locomotive engineer for over 38 years for Gulf Mobile Ohio, Illinois Central Gulf and then Amtrak.

Harry was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.  He loved music and cherished his Dalmatian, Holly.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Richard Gray will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be private, with military rites accorded.
