PEKIN ~ Homer Bernard Jones, 91, of Pekin, passed away peacefully at 10:45 pm Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin.

Born May 13, 1925 in Ray, he was the 6th child of 12 to Lester S. and Maude E. (Moore) Jones.  He was blissfully married to his sweetheart Ida Fern Pedigo on April 27, 1946 in Lewistown.  She died January 29, 2013 in Pekin.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, four brothers; and one grandson, Bregan Jones.

Homer is survived by his two sisters, Mildred Weber of Branson, MO and Ruth Lillie of Cuba, IL; his daughter, Vicki (Daniel F.) Jones of Aurora; his son, Daniel L. (Christine) Jones of Johnson City, TN; eight grandchildren, Dawn (Tim) Hoehn of Aurora, Jay (Jennie) Jones of Snow Camp, NC, Stephanie Willis of Missouri, Samantha Dykes of Tennessee, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Nemitz of Omaha, NE, Daniel Jones-Riley of Chandler, AZ, Shane Gilliam of Middletown, OH, and Jagger Gilliam of Johnson City, TN; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Homer served in the United States Army as a Technician 5th grade from 1943 to 1946 and served in the Pacific Theater World War II. After the war, he worked for 15 years for Burlington Northern Railroad as well as on several farms and in factories.

Homer was a member of North Parkway Assembly of God in Pekin where he served as one of the leading ushers and as a greeter with his wife Ida Fern. They also served for many years helping with the Fire Escape for young people. Homer and Fern loved to travel and made their home over the years in Aurora, Arizona, Missouri, Lewistown and finally settling in Pekin.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at North Parkway Assembly of God in Pekin.  Pastor Darin Shorey will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
