PEORIA ~ John Hamel Allison, 74, of Peoria, passed away at 2:53 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born September 7, 1942 in Peoria to William Daniel and Bertie Mae (Harris) Allison. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Pearl Crump and Ethel Brandt.

Surviving are five brothers, Karl (Cindy) Ensor of Hohenwald, TN, Ken (Anne) Ensor of Rome, IL, Kalvin (Marty-Jo) Ensor of Summertown, TN, Edward Diefendorf of Creve Coeur and Dan (Marcia) Diefendorf of Peoria Heights; three sisters, Barbara Serpette of Washington, Carol (Bill) Adams of East Peoria and Linda Kindred White of Peoria and several nieces and nephews.

John had worked at Lynch Aluminum in Peoria for 15 years as a custodian, retiring in 2006.

An avid Chicago Cubs and Bradley Braves fan, John also enjoyed telling stories, jokes and laughing,

John was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church, where he was a server during worship. He was also a member of the church bowling league and men’s ministry. He also attended Promise Keepers Men’s Ministry.

His funeral will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Creve Coeur Christian Church, 101 S Thorncrest Ave, Creve Coeur, IL 61610.
