PEKIN ~ Sandra Kay Wilhelm, 70, of Pekin, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at her home.

Born September 25, 1946 in Manito to Herbert I. and Frances (Sanmann) Schappaugh, she married Ray Goolsby on June 5, 1965. They later divorced. She then married Larry M. Wilhelm on September 24, 1995 in Pekin. He died August 25, 2015 in Lamar, CO. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Ashley Mendenhall; three sisters, Shirley DeVall, Florence Hubble and Lucille Hayden; three brothers, Nelson, Donald and Herbert Schappaugh and her former husband, Ray Goolsby.

Surviving are four sons, Christopher (Vera Sue) Goolsby and Matthew Goolsby, both of Pekin, Michael Wilhelm of Canton and Jon Wilhelm of Morton; two daughters, Joy Goolsby and Joylynn (Brett) Chilton, both of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Trevor, Dale, Andrew, Michael, Adrianna, Madison, Michelle and Jerry; two great-grandchildren, Edward James and Nicky Wyatt; two sisters, Verla (Butch) Pannier of Topeka and Carolyn (Guy) Gardin of North Judston, IN; one brother, Paul (Susie) Schappaugh of Havana and one sister-in-law, Jean Schappaugh.

Sandra had been a cook at various places, including Mason District Hospital in Havana for 11 years, Pekin Manor for four years, Casey’s in Havana and Aramark for four years, retiring in 2012.

She was a member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter Z and enjoyed motorcycles, convertible Mustangs and sewing.

Sandra was a member of God and Country Independent Baptist Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Jim Dawson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.
